This began the Rise of the Kingdom of Cusco.

Pachacuti gains power

1438

After defending Cusco Pachacuti began to transform the Inca Kindgdom into a vast Empire.

The empire reaches full extent under Huayna Capac

1525

The Incan Empire has now expanded into modern day Argentina, Chile, and Ecuador.

Civil war Began

1526

Incan leaders Huascar and Atahualpa start a Civil War, causing the empire to weaken.

Civil War Ends

1532

After the death of Inca Leader Huayna Capac, his two sons began fighting over power causing a civil war.

Pizarro Arrives in Cusco

1532

Nearing the end of the Civil War Pizarro and his forces arrived in Cuzco, soon attempting to take over the Empire.

Atahualpa is captured at the Battle of Cajamarca.

Nov 16, 1532

Inca Empire was severely outnumbered resulting in a massacre and the capturing of Atahualpa and was a turning point of the Spanish Conquest.

Atahualpa was executed

Jul 26, 1533

The last Emperor Atahualpa was strangled to death after he had paid a massive ransom of gold and silver.

Pizarro overruled Cusco

Pizarro invaded the city of Cuzco and installed forces all throughout the city

Once Túpac Amaru was captured and killed, it officially ended all Inca resistance to the Spanish.
