    Paper maker's that found paper could be burned and it created a gust of air. Pushes balloon up and they could only go up and down with little control of where they went. Flew with animals.

    First air balloon flight in the United States. 10 years later but it brought the experience to the US and showed many people what is possible. Flown in Philadelphia, which was at the time, our nation's capital.

    At the start of WW1 we where only able to fly around 70-80 mph and towards the end we reached speeds of 140-150 mph. This was a huge increase for modern aviation.

    Buying 50 airplanes was a huge stepping stone for the US. We are preparing for future war. We now believe aviation can lead us in the right direction and investing into this amount of airplanes was a huge step in the right direction.

    Germany had a blockade around Berlin so America and other allied powers created a air lift to bring them supplies.
