  • Saint Juan Diego of Mexico

Countless Native Americans were introduced to to Jesus and his teachings. Saint Juan Diego of Mexico had a vision of Our Lady in 1531. In his vision, Mary appeared to Juan dressed in native clothes and spoke to Juan in his native language. Mary told Juan to ask the bishop if he could build a shrine in her honor. When Juan delivered Her message to the bishop, he asked for a sign. Juan followed Mary's directions and picked roses in the middle of Demember and let them spill out before the bishop.
