1835

Andrew Carnegie was born 1835 in Scottland into a poor family.

Coming to America

1848

In 1848 Andrew brought him and his family to America and worked as a secretary to a railroad offical.

Making Railroads

1865

In 1865 Andrew left his Secretary job to start his own railroad company making them out of iron.

My own Mill

1873

In 1873 Andrew created his very first steel mill only 8 years after starting his railroad company.

Retirement

1901

In 1901 Andrew Carnegie retired after he created the "Carnegie Steel Company" and controlled a 4th of America's iron and steel production.

I 1911 Carnegie gifted 125 million dollars to start a charity that provided funds to organizations to help do research on education and public affairs.
