  • Second Anglo-Powhatan war begins

  • Second Anglo-Powhatan war ends

    After another defeat, the Powhatan tribe was kicked off their land, and they were decreed extinct only a few decades later

  • Maryland passes Toleration act

    Gives freedom to all forms of christianity (but decreed death to those who did not practice Christianity)

  • Slave codes are introduced

    Made blacks property, made it a crime for African slaves to learn to read, and made it so Christianity did not free slaves.

  • English Farmers begin to move from the West Indies to the Carolinas

  • King Philips War Begins

    Native tribes unite, and under Metacom (king Philip to settlers) saw great success

  • King Philips war ends

    Though successful at first, disease and division lead to a British victory

  • Bacon's Rebellion

    Nathaniel Bacon leads farmers in a rebellion, almost works until Bacon dies of a fever, rebellion is crushed soon after.

  • William Penn establishes Pennsylvania

  • Savannah Indians try to travel to Pennsylvania, but are all killed

  • New York slave revolt

  • South Carolina slave revolt
