    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act of 1775 was a tax set by the British on the Colonists that taxed all paper documents. In 1776 the act was repealed and this tax was a factor that helped lead to the rebellion against the British by the Colonists.   • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    On March 5th, 1770 Britain troops were sent to Boston for support and the colonists were there throwing snow and protesting which led to the British troops to shooting at the crowd. 3 were killed instatntly and 2 others died later from their wounds.     The British Parliament passed the act on May 10, 1773. Then on December 6, 1773 some of the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped tea into the Boston harbor.   • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The British troops were sent to take the weapons from the Colonists (wasn't meant to end in conflict) and one of the colonists accidentally shot and this started the first battle of the revolution. The British outnumbered the colonists and the first shot is now known as the shot heard around the world.   • Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    Bunker (Breed's) Hill
    The battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle with both full armies. The Patriots had the highland but were being heavily outnumbered. The British had to make their way up the hill which put them at a disadvantage. During this battle one out of every three British soldiers were either killed or injured.     Common Sense
    Common Sense was a book written apposing the way of the British government and their way of ruling. It basically told the British that the colonies deserved to have their own freedom away from Britain.   • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The signing of the Declaration of Independence helped the Colonies break away from the control of Britain. This helped recognize the colonies as its own country and showed that the people had significance to the colonies.   • Battle at Trenton / Princeton

    Battle at Trenton / Princeton
    The battles of Trenton and Princeton were small victories for the Patriots but was a big moral booster. It gave hope for them that they could actually win the war. It was during the winter so it wasn't expected and that was what the Patriots wanted. The British were warned by a note but the person who received the note didn't look at them.     Battle of Saratoga
    The biggest thing that came out of this win for the Colonists was they received a new ally, the French. This was a major turning point in the war because the Patriots had hope and the British lost a little hope.   • Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge

    Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge
    During the winter the troops would take a break from fighting because of the weather. The Continental Army had to stay the cold winter at Valley Forge while the British got to stay in big, nice cities with better conditions.   • War in the South / Charleston

    War in the South / Charleston
    The South was the last resort for the British because they had failed in the Northern and Middle parts of the colonies. Charleston was the commercial and political center of the South. In comparison Charleston was the South's Philadelphia.   • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    During this battle the British were running low on supplies and troops. The Colonists had help from the French which had helped a lot. The Colonists/French had barricaded off Chesapeake Bay which blocked of movement from the British. The colonist had 17,000 troops while the British had only 9,000.
