    D-Day: The Invasion of Normandy
    The Allies decided to attack France in Normandy. They did the attack in three sections. The first was by men dropping down by parachute. The second was airplanes bombing. The third was thousands of men coming in from boats in the water. Since the Allies had won on french soil, the attack on Western Europe had begun. It was the biggest win for the Allies, if they would of lost it would have been over.
  • Liberation of Paris

    Liberation of Paris
    Paris was taken over and threatened by General Dietrich von Choltitz. He was going to burn the city down. The Allies came intp the city and he surrendered 2 days later. France was fully free from the Germans. It was important because it concluded that all of France was free from the Germans. The Allies had France on their side.
  • Allied Offensive in the Saar Valley

    Allied Offensive in the Saar Valley
    The Allies starting attack towards German soil. Over the course of 3 months they made their way to the Saar River. Although the bad weather, Patton proceeded his army to attack anyways. This is important because now the Allies were in German soil.
  • The Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge
    Hitler lead his army to attack the Allies in mid december. This came as a suprise to the Allies and they could not use their aircraft. Patton's third army had rushed towards the battle and helped. The Germans slowly pulled away after too many casualities. This is important because it was another success for the Allies. They almost were taken over but now they continue to fight on towards Rhine.
  • Closing of the Ruhr Pocket

    Closing of the Ruhr Pocket
    Most of the Germans left began to go back to the Ruhr Pocket. The Allies began to surround them slowly instead of a full on fight. This success allowed the Allies to sweep through the rest of German territory. The head of the German army committed suicide. This was important beause the Allies had almost fully defeated the German army
  • The Battle of Berlin

    The Battle of Berlin
    Russains and the Allies were now on German soil. The soviets continued to fight and attacked Berlin. Hitler stayed there and finally committed suicide. Five days later Soviets defeated all of Germany. This was important because it was the last battle that ended the War in Europe.
