Albert Einstein

  • Period: to

    Life of a Genius

  • Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich

He went there to be trained as a teacher in physics and mathmatics.
  • Diploma to a career of possiblities

This year he gained his diploma, he acquired Swiss citizenship and, while unable to find a place to hire him, he accepted a position as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office.
  • Period: to

    Annus Mirabilis "the miracle year"

During this year Albert Einstein created four papers: Special Theory of Relativity, Photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, and E=mc[2]
  • Photoelectric effect

    Photoelectric effect
Einstein noted that the photoelectric effect depended on the wavelength, and hence the frequency of the light. At too low a frequency, even intense light produced no electrons. However, once a certain frequency was reached, even low intensity light produced electrons.
  • Special Theory of Relativity

This theory describes the relationship between space and light and how an object relates to a person/observer. Albert Einstein figured that the "speed of light" is constant/unchanging. With light it must travel through empty space at the speed of light. Time and length are never absolute/whole but rely on the relative motion of an object and the observer.
  • Special Theory of Relativity example:

Twin A travels round the world at fast pace in a space ship while the twin B stands still. When twin A returns, (s)he will be younger than twin B. Twin B has moved only through time, twin A has moved partly through space and only partly through time — less time than the twin who stayed still.
  • Brownian motion

    Brownian motion
    Brownian motion
Einstein's paper on Brownian motion is accepted by the Annalen der Physik.

-Brownian motion is the big particle can be considered as a dust particle while the smaller particles can be considered as molecules of a gas. On the left is the view one would see through a microscope. This is the explanation for the jittering of a dust particle,
  • Appointment

    Appointed as Privatdozent in Berne.
  • Great professor

Einstein is appointed extraordinary professor of theoretical physics at Zurich University.
  • Wave-Particle Duality

This was the idea that the wave theory of light had to be supplemented by an equally valid yet contradictory quantom theory of light as discrete particles.
  • Another job

Einstein is appointed professor of theoretical physics at the Zurich Polytechnic.
  • Director for Planck

Max Planck invited him to become director of the Kaiser Wilheim Physical Institute in Berlin.
  • General Theory of Relativity is published

  • LASER

    LASER
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation = LASER. This is used to focus on a single object and is used in medicine for surgery, military for blinding troops or selecting targets, and law enforcement for fingerprints.
  • Cosmology

Writes his paper on cosmology- Nature of the universe as a whole.
  • Einstein-Cartan Theory

In the 1920's they incorporated the spinning point particles into a general relativity, the affine connection needed to be generalized to include tan antisymmetric part, called the torsion.
  • A win for Albert

Einstein wins the Nobel Prize for his work on quantum theory.
  • Bose-Einstein Statistics

Satyendra Nath Bose a young Indian student sent a short essay to Albert Einstein describing light as a gas of photon and asking for his assistance to publish her theory. He then published this theory in German adressing it's implications.
  • Einstein Refrigerator

This was Albert Einsteins invention that uses green technology with the help of his physics student Leo Szilard.
  • Electromagnetic Pump

This required no moving parts of a mechnaical compressor thus eliminating seal leaks.
  • Award

Award for Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard for their work on the Einstein refrigerator. Award was called the U.S. Patent 1,781,541.
  • Emigration

He emigrated to the United States where he became a professor of mathematics at Princeton.
  • The World As I see it

    Published.
How he saw people and the world around us.
  • Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox

This is where A and B will interact for a short time then go off in different directions.
  • The President's Letter

This letter was about how the Nazi's were gaining nuclear weapons and potentionally using them for mass destruction. Albert Einstein along with Leo Szilard, Eugene Wigner, and Edward Teller who all urged Einstein to sign this letter. The Manhatten Project was a result of this letter.
  • Albert Einstein College of Medicine

    Albert Einstein College of Medicine
The location is Bronx, NY and was opened in 1955.
  • Period: to

    Einstein's last two days

On April 17th- Einstein suffered internal bleeding and died the next day in the Princeton Hospital at age 76.
