first transatlantic flight

Alcock and Brown made the first non-stop transatlantic flight. They flew a Vickers Vimy airplane from St. John's, Newfouldland to Clifden, Connemara, County Galway, Ireland in 72 hours.

the first jet engine was disigned by Frank Whittle and Hon von Ohain. the first jet plane was the Heinkel HE 178 with the HE S-3 engine.

air force pilot charles Yeager was the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound in the Bell X-1 fighter.

first comercial jet

the first commercail jet plane was the De Havilland Comet. It didnt start flying passengers until three years later however from London to South Africa.
