  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union
    Benjamin Franklin devised the Albany Plan of Union. It would make a council of representatives elected by the colonial assemblies. The council would have power over the western settlements, relations with natives, and other matters. It would also control armies and collect taxes. The Albany congress accepted it but the colonial assemblies said no. The colonies wanted to control themselves.

    Boston Massacre
    The tea tax was left to show Parliament's right to tax the colonies. A group of angry workers and sailors gathered around a group of soldiers. They shouted and threw rocks and snow at soldiers. The spooked soldiers fired into the crowd. They killed five and wounded six.

  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists called the Sons of Liberty gathered in port citys trying to stop tea from being unloaded. On the night of December 16, 1773, a group entered the harbor. A group of men dressed in Native American clothing, climbed onto a ship and threw 342 cases of tea into the water.

    The Shot Heard Round the World
    The colonists had formed a milita group called the minutemen. 700 troops of British troops were sent to capture a minutemen arms and supply depot in concord. As the troops were leaving to go to concord, a signal was sent to a church where Paul Revere and William Dawes were. They rode on horseback through the night to warn the minutemen. As the British were ariving 77 minutemen were waiting for them.
