Neena Barb was born to Alfonzo and Leona. She was born a few weeks after Franse surrenderedto Germany. -
My Great Grandfathers parents went to California
They went on their first family trip was to California to visit their cousins. They moved out there becausse one of their cousins jobs got moved or else they could have seen them anytime. -
Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
Japanese planned an attack on the biggest naval base in America. The Japanese hit us from the air and from the water. We suffered many losses and and this put us on the virge of war. -
My Great Grandfather Al got Drafted
Alfonzo got drafted into the war. He did not want to leave a 2 year old and a wife at home. But it was his duty to go into the war. -

Japan held naval superiority over the US in the Pacific. The US superior intelligence intercepted the "suprise" attack on Midway. they set up an ambush and had them waiting when the "suprise" attack came. -

My Great Grandfather left for the war. My Great Grandmother through a party for the whole neighborhood the day brfore he left. -
The Battle of Stalingrad
This battle is considered by many the turning point in WW II. The German Army was in full retreat. People think the only reason Hitler ordered an attack on it is becasue of the hatred of Josef Stalin, STALINgrad. -
D Day
On this day american troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. This 50 mile strecth of beach was heavily fortified by Nazi troops. We got control of Normandyand lost only 9,000 troops but more than 100,000 troops began the march across Egland. -
Grandfather - D Day
My Great Grandfather was one of the men that stormed the beaches of Normandy. He said that running on to that beach was one of the scariest things that he has ever personally did. As he recalls it he could have been one of those bodies on the ground or been one of those making people lay on the ground. The thought of a 2 year old abd a wife at home made him fight harder to make sure he saw them again. -

My Great Grandmother, her mom died. They were very close so it was hard to say goodbye. -

My Grandfathers family went to Ohio for Christmas. They went to see their cousins for Christmas. The two families are big and we have a lot of cousins all over the country. -

My Grandfathers and his parents moved to New York because of a job. Being that young and moving he really doesn't remember it but he said it was an expirence. -

Iwo Jima is a small Pacific Island only about 4.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide. This was the desire of the Americans to destroy the last of Japan's merchant ships. -
FDR dies and Truman becomes President
FDR died from cerebral hemorrhage in April and Truman succeeded him in presidency. Truman served the rest of FDR's term. Luckily he came into office at the end of the war. -

My Grandfathers family went to the white house and Washington D.C. They went to visit his aunt. -

My Grandfather went to his first baseball game. He caught a homerun ball. He had the time of his life and now he takes me to baseball games whenever he can. -
Hitler commits Suicide
On this date Hitler commited suicide as Anerican troops storming his eagle nest. Him and a few other people took their lives in the eagles nest. They didnt find his body for a few days after. -
VE Day
The fourth largest contributor to the troops in WW II, was Poland. VE Day meant victory in Europe day. -
Al is coming home
After three long years he is finally on his way home. The entire family was very happy to see him. -

There was a baby on the way. This is the second baby of five in my Grandmothers family. -
Deathly ill
My Great Grandfather on my Grandmothers side got deathly ill. He was in the hospital for a few weeks and almost died in the hospital. -
Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima
The Atomic bomb was to push Japan to give up in the war. The one we dropped on Hiroshima was the first one. The second on dropped was in Nagasaki. it killed about 300,000 people in Hiroshima. Hiroshima was the center of a very important military base. -
Atomic Bomb dropped on Nagasaki
This bombing was the last major act of WW II. This was the second attack on Japan with an Atomic Bomb. Nagasaki was not the target' it was Kokura. -
VJ Day
On this day it was announced that Japan surrendered to the Allies. Japan surrendered several months after Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allies. -
After he got back
My Grandmothers family went to Florida for a family vacation. They wanted to spent time with there dad that just got home from the war.
