  • Nōndum lūcet, sed Cornēlia surgit et per vīllam ambulat.

It is not yet light, but cornelia rises and walks through the house.
  • Adhūc dormiunt pater et māter et Marcus.

Still father, mother and marcus sleep.
  • Etiam Sextus dormit neque Cornēliam vexat.

Also Sextus sleeps and not annoys cornelia.
  • Nōn tamen dormiunt servī et ancillae.

However the slaves and the slave woman do not sleep.
  • Aquam ē rivō in vīllam portant.

They carry water from the stream into the house.
  • Iam surgunt Cornelius et Aurēlia.

    Now cornelius and aurelia rise.
  • Cornēlius petit Davum quī in hortō est.

Cornelius sees davum who is in the garden.
  • Davus, ubi Cornelium audit, statim surgit et labōrāre parat.

Davus, who hears Cornelius, immediately rises and starts to work.
  • Reprehendit Aurēlia ancillās sī ignāvae sunt.

Aurelia scolds the slaves if they are tired.
  • Servī et ancillae nunc strēnuē labōrant.

The slaves and the slave women now strenuously work.
