In the early 1600s the British started the British East India company for trading. However they took charge over everyone and ruled the company and trade. With that everyone started to speak English and it's still a very commonly spoken language in India. Sadly a lot of the cruel history has been forgotten and glamorized just like a lot of history it's been kept on the low to make the English look good.

In the 7th to 19th century Europeans (mostly British but also French, Portuguese, and Spanish) started travelling to Africa. They sold rum, weapons, and other manufactured goods to kings and leaders in exchange for people. They enslaved them, took them on boats and shipped them to America where they were sold as slaves. As a result, English started being spoken in the Caribbean where creole was developed. Creole is a dialect of English and was a mix of English native languages used by sailors.

during the 18th century, the British decided they would get rid of their worst prisoners by sending them to an island far away, Australia. The problem was, there were already people living there, and just like before they didn't really treat those people well. The Aboriginal had their land stolen, and were faced with violence from their culture. Their kids were taken away and stripped of their culture, they didn't receive an apology until long after in 2008.
