    On April 5th, 1841, it was announced that President Henry Harrison passed away due to pneumonia. Members of Harrison's cabinet considered Tyler as "Vice President, acting as President", but he is insistent on becoming President on his own terms. He rejects a call for a presidential election and serves for the remaining time of Harrison's term.
  • Congress Approves the 25th Amendment

    On July 6th, 1965, Congress approved the 25th Amendment. It was ratified on February 10, 1967, with President Lyndon Johnson certifying it on February 23rd of the same year.

    On March 30th, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest and rushed into emergency surgery, with the bullet only two inches away from his heart. Presidential power was temporarily transferred to Vice President George Bush until President Reagan regained consciousness and could fulfill his duties.

    President Ronald Reagan undergoes an operation to remove cancerous tissue from his colon. Before undergoing the procedure, Reagan sends a letter to the White House and the Senate, indicating that Vice President Bush would serve as acting President during the eight hours that President Reagan would be under anesthesia.
