    The US invaded Panama to take down their dictator, Manuel Noriega. He was a leader who was accused of suppressing democracy in the country. He also was a drug trafficker and a money launderer. He established the Panamanian Defense Forces (PDF). The US forces in Panama started to get attacked by the PDF and they were taken down soon after. Noriega was then arrested,

    Rodney King Beaten For No Reason

    Rodney King was pulled over after speeding while he was driving intoxicated. He was then told to lay on the ground and when he did not comply, he was tased twice. He then was struck by many batons blows. He was even stepped on by one of the officers. Riots ensued after the beating in Los Angeles and 60 people were killed and 1 billion dollars of damage was done.

    Big Bad Storm

    Hurricane Andrew was a catastrophic storm that hit Florida in 1992. It also hit Louisiana and the Bahamas. It was classified as a category 5 storm at its peak strength. Damage caused by the storm was devastating. The Bahamas suffered 250 million dollars worth of damage, while the states in the US suffered 26.5 billion dollars worth of damage. It devastated over 25,000 homes.

    NAFTA established a zone of free trade in North America. It went into effect on January 1, 1994. It included Mexico, the United States and Canada.     The Unabomber was named Ted Kaczynski. He was a former professor who carried out a series of bombing attacks. These attacks killed three people in total and injured 23. He used these attacks to promote his idea that technology was making humans stray away from nature, and he wrote about this in his manifesto. He even made a deal to stop the bombings if the manifesto was published. He usually mailed his bombs to postal services. He was not arrested for 17 years after his first attack.

    TWA Flight 800 Disappears

    Trans World Airlines flight 800 was a flight from New York City to Paris. On July 17, 1996, the plane crashed and all 230 people unfortunately died. The government deduced that the cause of the crash was a mixture of fuel and air that combusted in a fuel tank. However, some people speculate that the plane actually was hit by a missile. Another speculation is that it was shot down by terrorists.

    This bombing occured at Centennial Olympic Park in Georgia. It took place at a concert where one person was killed and more than 100 people were injured by a nail bomb. After the bombing, a security guard named Richard Jewell was blamed, but was later found innocent. Many bombing took place after this bombing and they all led to one person: Eric Rudolph. A manhunt began and he was later captured.

    In San Diego, California, police found 39 people who were victims of suicide in a mansion. They included 21 women and 18 men. They were part of the Heaven's Gate cult, and they believed that suicide was a pathway to entering an alien spaceship which was a remnant of a comet. The leader of this cult was Marshall Applewhite who convinced the members to kill themselves. They then took vodka and phenobarbital and died in the mansion.

    Kosovo was a region that became a part of Serbia in 1918. The Serbians did not like that they were independent. They wanted to rule the Kosovo's once again. The Kosovo Liberation Army was formed and it attacked Serbians. Serbian troops also killed many Kosovo people. NATO then got involved as they started air striking the Serbians. Eventually, the Serbians called for peace and took their troops out of the Kosovo region.

    Columbine Shooting

    The Columbine Massacre was a school shooting at the Columbine High School in Colorado. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were the perpetrators. In the end, 12 people were killed. They had originally planned to use bombs, but when they failed, they used guns. Their justification for doing this was that they were bullied. This would spark huge arguments over gun control.
