1960's and Protests

  • Brown Vs. Board Of Education

    Browns daughter denied access to a school because it was an all white school. He fought that it was against the 14th amendment. This takes place in Topeka Kansas.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks starts protesting on a bus. She refuses to get up for a white person and not go to the back of the bus. She ends up getting sent to jail.
  • Protests in 1961

    Freedom riders protest by riding in segregated bus terminals. They try to use the White only restroom and lunch places. The White people were very violent to these people.
  • Ruby Bridges

    Ruby Bridges was the first girl to Integrate into an all white school in New Orleans. She was escorted by four federal marshals.
  • Children's Crusade

    Over 1000 Black school children march through Alabama to protest against segregation. This was supposed to be non violent but police arrested and hosed down little children. By the end they desegregated lunches, bathrooms, and gave more job opportunities to black people.
  • I Have A Dream Speech

    250,000 March on the Washington to protest for Jobs and Freedom. Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech at the end of this most known by I have a Dream.
  • Vietnamese Protests

    There were 2 Vietnamese torpedo boats attack the US. We retaliated back. People were not happy so they were protesting.
  • Civil Rights Act

    This Act authorized the Federal government to prevent discrimination in schools and jobs and Public facilities.
  • Luther's March

    Martin Luther gets a group of people to walk from Selma to Montgomery. During this walk police block them and brutally attack them. Martin Luther was Arrested.
  • Fair Housing Act

    President Johnson passes the Fair Housing Act. This allows equal housing opportunity no matter race, gender, or religion.
