    1. This ended segregated schools. This a a huge accomplishment and allowed African Americans to go to their school of choice.
  • death of Emmett Till

    3, a 14-year-old who was lynched after being accused of offending a woman. I ranked this a 3 because someone got killed. The reason it's not lower is because it was only 1 person.
  • rosa parks arrest

    10, Rosa Parks, an African American woman, didn't want to give up her seat on the bus, so she refused and therefore got arrested. I ranked this a 10 because, in my mind, this is the start of the civil rights movement.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    10, African Americans would not ride Montgomery buses do to Rosa Parks being arrested on their bus. This boycott lasted a year. This i a ten because after a year of African Americans not riding those buses, they were successful and the buses were desegregated.
  • Little Rock Nine

    1. Nine African American students were blocked by a white mob and could not attend school until the president got involved and sent the National Guard to protect them. This is a 5 because people got badly injured, but it was the first desegregation of Little Rock Central High School.

    2, President Kennedy was assassinated; his death was a national tragedy that reshaped the USA because of President John F Kennedy. Vice President made laws that were in honor of Kennedy

    1, MLK was assassinated; this was a huge loss for the civil rights movement.

    1. During the Apollo 11 mission, NASA sent Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins to the moon. I ranked the Moon Landing an 8 because it wasn't a bad event, but it gave Americans a boost of pride.
