Why he invited them is because he wanted to do a treaty with them so that land would be secure. Due to offering charity to the host, the Wampanoag people brought most of the food for the feast.

He thought he call the new land Sylvania but he wanted people to know the he owned the land so he called the land of the New World: Pennsylvania.
