Pearl Harbor
Japan's surprise attack on the United States Pacific fleet. This caused the United States to enter World War 2. This attack forced our country to become more of a unit, everyone wanted to help out in the war. Men went off to fight and women worked in the factories to produce supplies that the military needed.

Island Hopping
This was an expansion strategy from the Allie powers in the Pacific Theater. The military would capture small islands in the Pacific in order to get closer to Japan's mainland. As they got closer the Allies were able to launch long-range bombs to Japan. This also cut off supply lines to Japan.

Japanese Internment Camps
Following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor many Americans were suspicious of Japanese Americans. They thought that they were sent over to spy on us. The United States sent all Japanese Americans to Internment Camps and made them live in poor areas that effected their physical and emotional health.

Battle of Midway
One of the most important battles of World War 2. United States victory over Japan, a naval battle in the Pacific Theater was fought 6 months after Japans attack on Pearl Harbor. This was a huge win for the Allies as it destroyed Japan's ability to have any more major attacks on the Allies.

Battle of Stalingrad
A battle in the eastern front where Nazi Germany and the Axis powers were trying to take over the Soviet Union City, Stalingrad. Germany did not win this battle so it was a turning point in the World War because it ended Germany's streak of victories. This hand-to-hand battle was known to be one of the bloodiest in World War 2 with 2.2 million casualties.

Yalta Conference
This was the meeting after World War 2 where the leaders of the United States (Roosevelt), Soviet Union (Stalin) and United Kingdom (Churchill) came together to discuss the repercussions of Europe. They discussed what Germany would have to pay for due to them being the main cause of the World War.
