These elections both make the political view Republicanism more well known in America.

    Nat Turner's Rebellion was a slave rebellion lead by Nat Turner in 1831. The plan was to rebel against the slaveholders by killing them, in the end the rebel slaves killed from 55 to 65 people. This event was the only effective slave rebellion.

    The U.S. Government added the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The 13th Amendment abolished Slavery, the 14th Amendment gave all people who were born or naturalized in the United States citizens, and the 15th Amendment gave African Americans the right to vote.

    The Compromise of 1877
    The Compromise of 1877 solved the 1867 U.S. Presidential election. The election was between the Republican nominee Rutherford B. Hayes and Democratic nominee Samuel Tilden. The intial outcome was Tilden by slightly winning both the popular and electoral college votes, but the compromise made Hayes win the election.
