  • Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia

    Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

  • Great Britain declares war on Germany

    This day is very important to Canadian history as it marks the first day, out of four very difficult years.

  • 2nd Battle of Ypres and Francis Pegahmagabow

    In total, there were three battles that took place here, the second one is the most important in my opinion because this was a great time for Native soldiers.

  • Taxes From The Government

    The government put out taxes on basically everything, even the basics for living such as tea and coffee, just to help pay for the war.

  • Jeremiah Jones and The Battle of Vimy Ridge

    This battle is important because it marks the day when black Canadian soldiers helped make history.

  • WW1 Ends

    WW1 ended on this day which is now known Remembrance Day to remember all of those lives that were lost.

  • Halifax Explosion

    After the war, there was a quite tremendous explosion which unexpectedly killed thousands of people.

  • Women Having The Right To Vote

    Starting in 1918, after WW1, women were allowed to vote, but that only applied to white women.
