In philosophy Socrates had a lot to say about what happiness is. In a read called The Pursuit of Happiness According to Socrates he says “true happiness is not derived from external factors or material possessions, but rather from the cultivation of a virtuous character and living in harmony with our true selves.” Which is meaning that you can’t find happy in anything or anyone yourself.

When it came to Shakespeare he found happiness int he theater with his plays. Specially in the play hamlet he focuses on exploring how happiness can be conceded in the pursuit of ones' goals and how conceding this happiness has negative impacts.
