    1980s - IBM began introducing computers into schools in the 1980s, revolutionizing the way students learn and access information. I began school in the mid-90's , but reading quizzes, keyboarding classesand other smaller tasks were being taught in elementary school(6th grade) before they moved 6th grade to Middle school.

    1990s - GPS technology started being integrated into vehicles in the 1990s, providing drivers with real-time navigation and location services. I was still taught how to navigate utilizing a map, but now rely mostly on this.

  • Robotics in medical surgery

    2000s - The use of robotics in medical surgery has been steadily increasing since the early 2000s, allowing for more precise and minimally invasive procedures to be performed with ease. During 2012-2020 I was able to experience its impact in the military setting.
  • Online learning platforms

    Online platforms like Coursera, Khan Academy, and Udemy have made high-quality courses accessible to anyone with an internet connection, democratizing education. I've introduced my nine-year-old to these programs and plan to use them for my four-year-old to prepare them for school during summer vacation.
  • iPods

    2001—Apple introduced the first iPod in 2001, changing the way people listen to music and paving the way for portable digital music players. This meant I no longer had to subject my parents to my preferred genre.
  • Social Media

    The emergence of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram has transformed how we interact with others and consume information. These platforms have significantly impacted education, providing new ways for students to collaborate, share ideas, and engage with course material. Myspace was my first social media which required a basic level of coding. I was monitored very intensely by my parents. I still utilize social media to maintain my networking via Facebook and Linkedin.
  • Introduction of smartphones

    The release of the first iPhone in 2007 revolutionized the way we communicate and access information on the go.I received my first smartphone as a teenager but was only given this item to communicate my whereabouts to my parents, ensuring my safety. I did not have an iPhone, but I had a Blackberry, which allowed emails, internet access, and BB messaging.
  • Digital firearm training

    2010s—With advancements in technology, digital firearm training simulators have become more prevalent in the past decade, offering a safe and effective way for law enforcement and military personnel to practice their shooting skills. During my boot camp, my basic firearm qualification was done digitally, and this was the only time that I had access to this style. The rest of my training was real-time.
