Starting in 2nd grade, we went to the computer lab to practice typing. I remember using typing programs that helped me learn how to place my fingers on the keyboard. It was my first introduction to using a computer at school. -
I remember loving KidPix, it was a program where we could make designs, add stickers, and play with digital art tools. It felt new and exciting to use and create with. -
In middle school, I learned how to use PowerPoint. I practiced adding slides, images, and animations, this felt like a big step in using tech tools. -
In high school we were given an iBook to check out and use. It was HUGE to have our own laptops, but I remember they were new and often had bugs that made them frustrating to use. -
During high school teachers started using projector Smart Boards instead of chalkboards or whiteboards. They made lessons more interactive and I remember my teachers having a lot of difficulty getting used to them.
