Starting in 2nd grade, we used YouTube as a form of educational learning in school. In second grade, the prime videos we watched that I remember were Bill Nye the science guy, How to Draw, and Magic School Bus.

I can't exactly remember when we started using Khan Academy, but I remember how much I loved and hated it at the same time! I am pretty sure we mainly used Khan 3rd-5th grade, but once again, not 100% positive. Khan Academy offered lessons, videos, and practice exercises in math, science, and reading, but I honestly just remember using it for math.

In 3rd grade, our teachers had us doing lots of reports, which included doing outside research. I found this beneficial especially looking back at my time in grade school because when being asked what tech related things I remember, most of it comes from 3rd grade. We did an endangered species report, a how to report, and a biography report. In each of these reports, I had to conduct research online to create my project and presentation, therefore it allowed me to use lots of tech.

In 3rd grade, we went to computer lab once a week ( I believe ). It was super fun and we did speed typing tests to improve how fast we could type as well as work on our hand placements on a keyboard. We also learned how to operate a computer on our own so that we could know how to use a computer as our lives were slowly becoming more tech oriented.

I remember starting to use kahoot as a 4th grader and then never really stopping. I still love kahoot, but now having worked in the same district of where I went to school, they start the kids on kahoot in kindergarten, whereas I don't remember getting on kahoot until 4th grade for review. It made studying fun and competitive with classmates!

Once COVID became a thing, the kids from the district I grew up in got used to using google classroom, but before that and when I was in school we had never done such a thing. It wasn't until 4th grade when I made my first presentation digitally. I remember thinking it was so fun, cool, and confusing all at the same time. So glad I have learned so much more since then and no longer have to use Microsoft presentations!

In middle school, we got assigned chromebooks that we were allowed to take home for homework, research, and grades, which was a pretty large jump from elementary school as we used minimal tech.

Now that we have made it to high school, this is when I was introduced to Canvas for the first time which was actually super helpful in the long run as my undergrad and now masters program also use a form of Canvas. It was beneficial to learn it early!

well, well, well...the pandemic hit and we happily thought we got three weeks off of school which actually turned into a learning curve of figuring out how to learn fully remote through Zoom!
