I am Karen montes
I was born on December 17, 1993 in Sahagún -Córdoba.
I am the daughter of Ludis and Omar. -
I studied my preschool and part of my elementary school in Montelibano - Córdoba, more or less until I was 6 years old. -
I grew up in the midst of many complex situations and with few opportunities.
My parents separated so at the age of seven or so, I traveled to my grandmother who lives in Cartagena and there I did a year of elementary school. -
Then we moved to live in my homeland Sahagún, where I studied the rest of my primary school in the school Conalsa, more or less until 2006.
-
When I finished my primary school I went to study high school at the Escuela Normal Superior Lacides Iriarte de Sahagún, where I finished that stage in 2010. -
Once I finished high school, I continued with the cycle of complementary training in the normal school to ensure an opportunity in the workplace.
-
My family situation did not improve, I grew up without the support of mother and / or father, so once I finished this cycle I was forced to stop my studies until I found the means and possibilities to continue. I worked in private schools in my hometown for a year, to gain experience.
-
Noticing that these opportunities were not the best, economically speaking, as I was looking to finish my studies. I decided to leave town. In 2014 I travel to Bogota, after having presented a contest to enter the teaching profession and with the hope of being appointed in the public sector. -
Already being in Bogota the situation is not easier, job opportunities, although there are many, for someone who is alone and away from his family and his culture the picture is different. -
I meet a person with whom I visualized myself, with whom I decided to form a home and with whom somehow at some point I found support and companionship.
-
I have my first child and fortunately I get my probationary appointment in the public sector, as a primary school teacher. -
These are years of projections, dreams and calm in the midst of everything. I was established in a home with a son and starting many projects. For the moment the career was postponed.
-
Pandemic. Although it was a complex time for everyone, for me it was a time to reconnect with my essence, with my family, to recognize my value as a person, now as a mother and as a woman.
I separated from my partner and decided to spend this time of quarantine with my family in Sahagun-Cordoba. Valuable and quality time for me. -
After going through many strong emotional situations, I decide to continue with my career.
I start studying virtually. -
A serious period begins, economically speaking, and once again I have to stop studying. Once again, it is a difficult time in every sense of the word, and a time of much learning. -
With much more strength than before and with all the hope to continue on the path, to improve and advance, I get the support of my family and resume my studies. -
At present I am still in the process of resolving all those not so pleasant situations that were triggered after my separation, but with a great motivation which is my son.
I continue with my studies, very happy and motivated. -
My professional aspirations are to finish my bachelor's degree and continue with a master's degree, to be an example and motivation for my son and my students, to show him that despite how complex the road may get, it is always important to get up stronger and keep fighting for what you want to achieve.
-
In the future, I want to continue growing in my role as a mother and professional. My goal is to transmit to my son the importance of education and of being people with solid values and principles. I also plan to continue exploring new travel destinations to create memorable memories with him. -
In the long term I dream of building a solid foundation for my family of two (my son and I), so that we can both continue this journey together with tranquility, stability and happiness. My goal is for my son to grow up in an environment where he will always feel loved, supported and where he will always feel the desire to work on his personal growth.
