My Literacy Timeline

  • Beginning

    Mother started reading to me as a baby.

  • Head Start

    Went to Head Start, and the teachers read stories to me. Started turning pages and looking at pictures in books.

  • Kindergarten

    Went to Kindergarten and started learning letters and having books read to me.

  • First Grade

    Started using sight words.

  • Second Grade

    Started going to the library to pick out books to take home to read.

  • Firth Grade

    Started reading chapter books like Charlotte's Web.

  • Six Grade

    Started reading books and doing book reports.

  • Eighth Grade

    My mother required me to read for an hour everyday of the summer before watching tv.

  • High School

    We had a lot of reports to do that required reading and research.

  • College the First Time

    Took a readying class and failed so I dropped out of school.

  • Career

    Started teaching at a preschool and read books to the children regularly.

  • Still Teaching

    Teaching children their letters and sounds and how to spell their names.

  • Back to College

    I went back to school and took my reading class over, and I passed. I am now taking this class and a speech class
