The Greeks/Democritus
It is believed that Democritus was the one who came up with the main concept of the atom . He believed atoms could not be divided as they were the smallest part of matter. -
John Dalton
John Dalton is said to have established the main basis for atoms. Dalton stated that all elements are composed of atoms along with atoms of two identical elements are the same. -
JJ Thomson
Thomson used his Plum Pudding model to convey that atom were an area full of postive charge with electrons floating around. -
Ernest Rutherford
Rutherford conducted an expirement which lead to the conclusion that the atom in fact was not positively charged as a whole but there were positively charged particles located in the centre of the atom with electrons floating around the outside. -
Neil Bohr
Bohr proposed that electrons always moved in circular orbits, while the protons were in the nucleus. -
Schrödinger
Schrödinger used mathematical equations to describe the chances of finding an electron in a certain place.
