  • brown v. Board of Education

    Brown vs Board of education was a major turning point in fighting discrimination in public schools. This led to the desegregation of all schools in the US.
  • ESEA act

    President Lyndon B. Johnson created "war on poverty" which led to significant funding for public education as well as initiatives for disadvantaged children.
  • Public law 94-142

    The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA) promised a free and appropriate education for all children who have disabilities. This act required individualized education programs.
  • Board of education vs Rowley

    Amy Rowley was a deaf student who was refused a sign language interpreter, her case went to the supreme court which led to the majority saying that the potential of a child with special needs need an IEP to be successful.
  • Americans with disabilities Act (ADA)

    A civil rights law that prevents the discrimination of individuals with disabilities from things that are considered as "public life".
