Davis grew up in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood in West Baltimore, known as one of the most crime-affected areas in the city.

Despite the challenges of his environment, he pursued his education at Digital Harbor High School, a local magnet school. However, he eventually made the decision to drop out in order to dedicate himself to his boxing career. Davis later completed his secondary education through a GED program.
