    About the significance of the Korean WarWhen Warld war II ended the United Nations put a board on the 38th parallel separating North Korea (comunism) and south Korea (democracy) The N Korean felt this boarder was unfair and wanted more so the surged into South Korea. a war began and N. Korea was able to fight back ending the wars 3 years later near the same boarder. This war was the first armed battle apart of the cold war and that both sides of the war were very hessitante as far as how to carry out the dispute.

    Ho Chi Minh, the leader in vietnam, returned while two countries, Japan and France, occupied vietnam. He created the Viet Minh in northern Vietnam and started a campaign to rid of the foreign holders and become an independent democratic republic countries. The US decided to help france to keep vietnam from becoming communist despite the begs from Minh. Vietnam was then handed from frace to the US. it wasnt the us's goal to win but to keep northern vietnam contain this failed and the troops wer.

    Warsaw Pactin response to NATO Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union signed a pact for aid and protection again the Ally Forces.

    SputnikThe Soviet Union launched the first space satalite which started the whole space race. The US was afraid that they would beable to launch nuclear missiles from outerspace aimed right at the US. The US then sent explorer 1 up to outer space leading them to put the first man into space.

    Bay of PigsAmerican exiles landed on the Bay of Pigs and tried to take down the Cuban government. Their goals was to fight across the island to Havana but on April 19, 1961 Castros army defeated them killing 90 exile and arresting the others captured. This event embarressed the president kennedys administration and created fear amoung americans. this showed the world that democracy was nothing compared to communism and that communism couldnt be destroyed.

This Intense rage sent people fleeing the east to the west. that night the soviets built a wall sot that people couldnt cross over which killed the economy. This showed the intensity of the war.

    The Soviet Union put up a nuclear area in Cuba aimed right at the US after finding out about the US station in Turkey. Both decided it would end in destruction of both countries and agreed to take out their missles. It showed how war between the US and the Soviet Union was on the edge of becoming and full-scale nuclear war.

    these events show the strong rivalry they have against each other. no one is going to let the other win.
