My earliest contact with technology was a home desktop computer with Windows XP when I was7 years old. During this time, my father learned how to build computers on his own. This computer was used to take care of household tasks like paying bills, but for me I used the computer to play games like The Sims and also I used it to discover music.

During this time, my parents invested in a lot of learning technology to build my reading skills. The most memorable technology that was used during this time was a leapfrog. This platform was in a form of console, and it implemented gamification elements to practice of reading concepts.

As I entered the fifth grade, my parents decided to give me my first phone. This phone was used for emergencies when I’m away from them or I’m walking home from school. My first phone was a Firefly phone, and was created specifically for children because of its limited capabilities.

When I was attending Maryville College, the learning platform that was used on campus was called Blackboard (or the Tartan). This website gave us the ability to access the class resources and turn in our assignments electronically instead of on paper. This learning platform is very similar to the Canvas website that we use at UCF.

A common platform that I use in my classroom is the website Kahoot. All of my students use their Chromebook’s to join the game, and it’s a fun way to review over information that will be on their future test.

As I mentioned before, my first mobile phone was a Firefly phone which only allowed me to call a few contacts my parents added on the phone. After my first phone I was allowed to get my first smartphone, which allowed me to text and go onto social media.

Currently I am using platforms like Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Express for my Instructional Design classes.
