Edgar Poe was born in Boston on January 19, 1809. His parents were David and Elizabeth Poe. Edgar Allan Poe had two siblings, a brother named Henry and a sister named Rosalie. Edgar's parents were both underpaid traveling actors who had a low income flow. David and Elizabeth eventually split and Elizabeth took custody of her children.

Mr. Allen was a wealthy merchant so Edgar was put into good schools.

Edgar's cousin, and wife grew ill from the disease that took out all the women he was close to, Tuberculosis. Edgar had really loved Virgina and it was a serious heart break for Poe and you can see it in his writting.
