  • Massacre at Mystic

    during the Pequot War, when English colonists and their Narragansett and Mohegan allies attacked the Pequot Fort. Many people died from a fire lit. It was important because turning point in the Pequot War.
  • Nat Turner Rebellion

    a violent uprising of enslaved people in Virginia. This was led by an enslaved man named Nat Turner. it was important because it was the deadliest slave revolt in U.S. history.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    declared people of African descent were not U.S. citizens, could not sue in federal court, and were not free to be in territories where slavery was banned. It was important because it led to the 13th amendment.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    this was where Abraham Lincoln said to abolish slavery and free confederate states. It’s important because it weakened the South.
  • 13th Amendment

    abolished slavery and involuntary servitude throughout the United States. This was important because it put slavery to an end.
