    The soviet union, U.S, France, and Great Britain were involved.The Russians closed all highways, railroads and canals from western-occupied Germany into western-occupied Berlin. The U.S decided to give the people of Berlin food, water, and supplies by dropping them over the city with airplanes.

    First artificial earth satelite. Was launched by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957. This device ushered in new political, technology, military, and scientific developments.
  • U2 Spyplane Incident

    U2 Spyplane Incident
    The USSR shot down an American U2 spyplane and captured the pilot, Francis Gary Powers, on May 1, 1960. Powers was captured to gain intel forcing President Eisenhower to admit the US had been spying on the USSR for several years. Powers was sentenced 10 years but only served 2 in exchange for a Soviet agent.
