Atomic Models and Theory's!!!!!!

  • Antoine Lavoisier

    Antoine Lavoisier
He discovered that water is made of hydrogen and oxygen and invented the analytical balance and showed that chemical elements were neither created or destroyed. All they were was combined into different compounds.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
John performed several expirements. In Oct 1803, he performed experiments on the combination of nitrous gas with oxygen in the air. He added Democritus to the atomic theory.
  • Hantro Nagaoka

    Hantro Nagaoka
Nagaoka' s atomic model was based on the thought that electrons revolve around the positively charged center of the atom like the rings of Saturn. He added to the theory that the elctrons in the atomic model were related to the ones that revolve around Saturn.
  • Robert Milikan

    Robert Milikan
He was determining if the electron had a discrete, fixed charge and mass remained. An example was when
Millikan used a tiny, submillimeter drop of oil suspended between capacitor plates to measure the incremental charge on an electron.
  • Ernest rutherford

    Ernest rutherford
Rutherford's experiment showed that something dense and positively charged existed in the atom. It is the nucleus. He also proved that most of the atom was made of empty space. He added to the aomic theory that atoms can gold through a gold sheet of paper.
  • Neils Bohr

  • Erwin Schodinger

    Erwin Schodinger
He created a mathmatic equation to describe the motion f the electrons in the atoms. Erwin soon ivented the electron cloud model. One typical example in quantum mechanics has an electron trapped in a box.
  • Ernest Marsden

    Ernest Marsden
He wanted to see if he could scatter particles through a larger angle. One example he did was that it shows how different taste sensations are regularly produced by contact with different shapes of atoms.
  • James Chadwick

  • Louis de Broglie

    Louis de Broglie
Louis made the electrons have some proerties of waves. A few years later, his atomic model theory was a success! an example of his model was the wholly probabilistic model.
  • J.J. Thomson

    J.J. Thomson
Instead of focusing on the negative and postives charges. He focused on electrons. Thomson emebedded the electrons in a sphere of postive electric charges. He created a machine called "plum pudding." The device has a sealed tube, filled with glass at a low pressure. It also had 2 metal disks, and orange box, that was an energy soure and finally, the tube had a glow to it.
  • Aristotle

    Aristotle
Aristotle believed atoms could be divided into smaller and smaller pieces and that each atom was made of an element such as Earth, water, fire and air. His theory was that each element (Earth, water, fire and air), Objects being like Earth would clump up with other solids and soon fall to their natural place(s). Hot objects, like a hot air balloon, would rise towards its element of fire.
  • Democritus

    Democritus
He believed that all particles and atoms are differents types / sizes. An example that Democritus did was that he showed how different taste sensations are regularly produced by contact with different shapes of atoms.
