Macy's Department store
The starting of Macy's was a huge deal changing and making life easier for everyone. On October 28,1858, Macy's was established. Before Macy's there were stores for shoes stores for hats and you had to travel around a lot because each store had a different product. But now with Macy's people could get multiple different products at one store. -

When Theodore Roosevelt became president he went through some tough things. So, he would retreat himself into the wild or just free land no cities, just fresh air. So, Teddy reserved land off of cities and neighborhoods, just to enjoy. -
Nellie Bly
Nellie Bly is a female journalist that wanted to create a story of how people are being treated in mental asylums. She went undercover and acted as though she was crazy and then the police took her into the asylum. Nellie noted its horrible conditions and how they were being treated and once she was done someone apart of her team pretended to be her brother and got her out of there. Nellie Bly also traveled around the world in under 80 days. -
Johnstown Flood
The South Forks Hunting and FishingClub had a dam that was left unnatended for 20 years. The dam eventually collapsed on May 31 1889 flooding Johnstown Pennsylvania. The damage affected this town a lot killing around 2,000 people -
Modern Olympics
The Olympics were re-established because many people wanted to revive the old ones. So, they made the modern Olympics to compete in many sports to win in Athens, Greece in 1896. This would change America because even now we still do the Olympics, and it has become very popular. -

Theodore Roosevelt also known as Teddy got his nickname because of a selfless act. Some people asked him to hunt, but there were no bears around. Finally, they found one, but he was old, and they strapped him into a tree to kill. They showed Teddy the bear, but he just felt too bad and ended up not killing him and thars how he got his nickname Teddy. Also, Teddy Roosevelt became the 26th president of the U.S. -

The genius Wright brothers created the invention of the airplane in 1903. Wilbur was born in 1867 in Indiana and Orville was born in 1871 in Ohio. The wright brothers will forever go down in history for inventing the airplane, this invention has changed millions of lives making travel faster for many people. -

Great San Francisco Earthquake
On April 18, 1906, the Great San Fransico Earthquake happened, it was a 7.9 earthquake and rocked California pretty hard. This earthquake was so powerful that there were fires started in multiple different places and the damage was very impactful killing around 3,000 people. The earthquake was so powerful you could feel it 296 miles away from its biggest hitting point many people could also feel it in southern Oregon. -
The Sinking of The Titanic
The "unsinkable" Titanic was the largest passenger ship of its time. It could house around 3,500 people. The Titanic had been going full speed in an iceberg field and ended up hitting one along its side. This infamous event ended up killing around 1,500 people.
