-
Created a law that a given compound always has the same elements in the same proportion by mass
-
John Dalton created the first atomic theory of matter. The theory has three parts; all matter is made up of atoms, all atoms of a given element possess unique characteristics and atoms can be divided into elements, compounds, and complex molecules.
-
He discovered that some elements, such as Uranium, spontaneously decompose, otherwise known as radiation.
-
Created the Thomson model using his findings of a subatomic particle with a negative charge that was called an electron. He also found that all atoms have electrons.
-
He discovered Plank's constant which is used to find the energy of a photon as well as the law of heat radiation.
-
-
Determined the charge (e=1.602 x 10 -19 coulomb) and the mass (m = 9.11 x 10 -28 gram) of an electron.
-
Established that the nucleus was extremly dense, and extremly small, and that the electrons were somwhere outside of the nucleus.
-
Created Bohr model of atoms with neucleus in the center of the atom and electrons surrounding it in rings.
-
-
-
Discovered that matter on an atomic scale was made up of waves, like other objects on normal scales.
-
Founded the most recent quantum mechanic model and made the claim that the more precise the known position of an electron is, the less precise the momentum is, and vice versa
-
Erwin found an equation to model the wave of energy from a hydrogen atom as well as found diatomic molecules to classify molecules.
-
Chadwick discovered the neutron, which has no charge.

Actuaaly in 360 B.C.E.Democritus thought that everything was made of atoms and that all substances are different because of the way the atoms are. Iron atoms have hooks so they are stronger, water atoms are slippery.
-
Actual Year: 351 B.C., Stated that atoms were the same size, were not always moving, and they were not geometric shapes. He also said that atoms were made out of fire, earth, air, and water, and that the stars and heavans were made out of a fifth element, aether, a divine substance.
