  • Michael's Parents Divorce

    July 14th, 1992, was a tragic day for MIchael Phelps. His parents, Fred and Debbie divorced for good. Being that Michael was only seven and without a father, his swimming coach, Bob Bowman, acted as a father figure to Michael. He cared and supported Michael, as if he was his own son.
  • Michael is Diagnosed with ADHD

    Sometime after his nineth birthday, Michael was diagnosed with a developemental disorder called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADHD. the symptons were distractibility, difficulty with concentration and focus, short term memory slippage, problems organizing ideas and belongings, impulsivity, and weak planning. However, this did not stop Michael from accomplishing his dreams.
  • Phelps Qualifies for Junior Nationals

    On May 12th, 1999, Phelps set an astonishing record for the 200-meter Butterfly in the 20-year-old age category. At the time, Michael was only 14. This was just the beggining of Michael's road to success.
  • Michael Phelp's First Olympics

    Michael's first olympics was held in Sydney, Austrailia, of the year 2000. Michael was the youngest swimmer to compete in the olympics in 68 years. He was 15 years old.
  • Phelps sets his first World Record

    At 15 years, nine months, Michael Phelps became the youngest man in history to break a world record, lowering the mark in the 200m butterfly with a time of 1:54.92 at the Phillips 66 Spring Nationals. At this meet, four world records were broken, the most at a major U.S. meet since the 1986 World Championships Trials.
  • Graduated High School

    On May 23rd, 2003 Michael Phelps garduated from Balwyn High School. With already one World Record under his belt, and just graduating High School, Michael knew he had a good life ahead of him.
  • Making American History

    Michael Phelps made American history on May 12th, 2004. He was the first American to qualify in 6 individual events in the Athens Olympics. This got people's attention, and soon, Phelps was an international super-star.
  • Enrolled in Michigan University

    In 2005, Michael enrolled at Michingan University.
    With already two World Records and two Olympics under his belt, Michael knew there was more glory to come. And boy, was he right.
  • Olympic History

    On August 17th, 2008, MIchael Phelps made Olympic history. He set an Olympic record in the preliminary heats of the men's 400 m individual medley.He followed that up in the final by winning the gold medal, as well as breaking his previous world record by nearly two seconds. Phelps won an amazing 8 gold medals, beating Spitz's old record.
