  • Earle Completes PH.D

    Earle completes her PH.D disseration algae including inventory of underwater plants in the Gulf of Mexico. This was published in Scientific Journal. All in 1966.

    Sylvia divorces John Taylor and marries Giles Mead in 1966. She moves to the Boston area with Giles and her two children.

  • Man (Almost) Overboard

    Sylvia joins the Man in Sea Project. She dove down into 100 foot water in the Bahamas.

    Sylvia spends months on the sea studying Humpback Whales in Alaska and Hawaii.

    Sylvia performs teh deepest untethered solo dive in Jim. She actually walked on teh ocean floor of Hawaii! That's at a depth of 1,250 feet underwater.
