    On the coat tails of Michael Faraday’s theory of diamagnetism and his belief in molecular structure, John Tyndall gave a presentation “On the Influence of Material Aggregation Upon the Manifestations of Force” at the Royal Institution of Great Britain that launched his name and work into the philosophical science history books .

    John Tyndall presented a paper that outlined his theory of ‘Fracture and Relegation’ to the Royal and a week later delivered it as a disclosure to the Royal Institution of Great Britain. His theory that glaciers moved by breaking and reforming tested James David Forbes theory that glaciers moved because they were viscous. John Tyndall had a devoted love for the Alps and lead of one of the early teams to reach the top of the Matterhorn in 1868.
