In 1972 George Wallace ran for president as a democrat. Later at Maryland that year he would be shot by a man named Arthur Bremer. He was shot seven times in the chest leaving him permanently paralyzed.

George Wallace decided to retire after suffering minor pains. He died due to a septic shock which caused heart failure. He was 78 years old when he died.
