01/21/2001	NISD Voters Approve Bond	2001 Bond approved- the future John Paul Stevens High School was among the schools that the bond would fund.
01/01/2002	Groundbreaking Ceremony	A ceremony was held to annouce the official groundbreaking for John Paul Stevens HS. Dane & Lily, 8th graders from Pease and Jordan MS, read their winning essays on the schools' namesake- Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. 01/01/2002	Our Namesake	Our namesake was appointed by President Gerald Ford in 1975. Justice Stevens considered becoming a teacher before joining the Navy during World War II where he received the Bronze Star. A Chicago native, Stevens attended the University of Chicago earning his degree in English literature. He earned his law degree from Northwestern University (Illinois). 08/21/2005	Our 1st Administrators	Harold Maldonado has served as principal at both William Howard Taft High School and Sul Ross Middle School. He was the vice principal at Jordan Middle School when it first opened and he was a secondary science teacher at Truman, Ross and Jones middle schools prior to his work in administration. 09/01/2006	Student Population at an all time high 2,908	Stevens is in the fastest growing zip code in San Antonio, attributing to the highest enrollment of 2,908 students.
10/01/2006	Historical Marker Commemorates the Pope's Visit	NISD ArticleIn April 2006, NISD contacted the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and asked if they would like them to construct an historical marker on the site of Pope John Paul II Holy Mass held in 1987. The project was completed and now stands at the corner of Dugas and JP Stevens Drive.
10/13/2006	Water Polo places 7th at Regionals	The Falcon Boys and Girls Water Polo teams each finished 7th at the Region Five tournament.
11/10/2006	2006 Assistant Principal of the Year	Rob Feilds- Rob Feilds was named the assistant principla of the year for 2006 for Region 20.
12/01/2006	Golf Team 3rd Overall @ Texas Tournament	The Falcon golf team played 4 major tournaments this season, placing 3rd overall in the Golf Club of Texas tournament.
01/03/2007	Stevens Sophomore is the fastest runner in the nation.	Sophomore, Rynell P., completed at the University of Arkansas invitational and beat the previous record of 21.64 by .02 seconds to claim the title as the fastest student runner in the nation.
01/16/2007	Artic Blast shuts down San Antonio	Winter Blast 2007The arctic blast hit San Antonio on Jan. 16-17th, closing the school.
01/19/2007	Automotive Department wins at Autorama	The JPS Automotive department placed 4th in the Autorama and received a $250 grand prize!
02/08/2007	Dance Team Celebrates	The dance team received 14 awards at the South Padre Convention Center.
02/24/2007	Visual Arts Scholastic Event	27 of 31 Stevens students were recognized for their artwork. Many of the students advanced to the Area competition.
03/01/2007	Forensic Team Celebrates	The Stevens Forensic Team finished their season with 15 tournament trophies for the year.

03/27/2007	Stevens HS capped at 4,000 students	During the March 27th board meeting, it was determined that Stevens will be capped at 4,000 as our zip code continues to be the fastest growing area in San Antonio.

04/27/2007	Varsity Baseball in the Playoffs	With a win over Del Rio 3-1, the Boy's Baseball team qualified for the playoffs.

09/01/2007	JP Cafe in the Library	JPS Library opens the JP Cafe serving coffee, hot chocolate and treats. The cafe is the first of its kind in NISD. Terry Palin, Librarian.

11/14/2008	Football Bi-District Champions!	On November 14, Stevens HS Falcon Football team won their 1st Bi-District Championship! We will play Austin Westlakes at the Alamo Dome on Saturday, November 22nd.
11/15/2008	Stevens Cross Country Student advances to State	Junior, Jacob B., is the first falcon cross country team member to qualify for state level competition.
01/01/2009	JPSHS Bowling Team Established	The Boys and Girls Falcon bowling team started their first year.

06/09/2009	Pure Falcon Graduation	The first "pure falcon", seniors who attended all 4 years of high school at stevens, walked the stage.

04/22/2010	Senior elected Regional FCCLA Officer	Senior, Antonio G., was named as the district and school's first ever regional officer for the largest student-led organization in the United States.

12/11/2010	Falcon Football 5A Division 1 Region 4 Champs!	The Falcon's created a legacy becoming the school's first 5A Division 1 Region 4 Champions.

02/02/2011	5 Stevens Athletes sign to Division I & II Teams	5 Stevens Athletes sign with top universities including The University of Texas and Texas A&M University Kingsville.
02/25/2011	Academic Decathlon advances to State	For the first time in school history, the AcDec team earned a spot in the state level competition.
02/26/2011	Track Team competes at State	3 athletes compete at the state level and one walked away with a brozen medal.
