08/25/1647 "Old Deluder Satan" Act The first publicly supported schools in America were established due to religious motives.
08/25/1791 The First Ammendment Specified that "Congress shall make no law repecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercise.
08/25/1943 West Virgina v. Barnette Supreme Court made it clear that students may not be required to salute the flag.
08/25/1947 Everson v. Board of Education First establishment clause decision.
08/25/1971 Lemon v. Kurtzman The Supreme Court announced a three part test to evaluate establishment clase clames.
08/25/1972 Wisconsin v. Yoder Supreme Court exempted Amish children from school attendance afte completion of eighth grade.
08/25/1985 Alabama Law Insereted the phrase "voluntary prayer" into an existing statute that authorized a period of silent meditation.
08/25/1985 Kentucky Law Supreme Court declared a Kentucky Law unconstitutional that required posting of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms.
08/25/1992 Lee vs. Weisman The first major school prayer case that involved prayers led by religious authority figures at public school graduation ceremonies.
