The Akkadians were part of the Akkadian Empire, which was an ancient Semitic empire. It was founded in Akkad, and united all indigenous Akkadian speaking Semites and Sumerian speakers. Akkadians are not the same as Sumerians, but they did stand side by side with one another, and Southern Mesopotamia became known as the "land of Sumer and Akkad." -
Assyrians are part of an indigenous ethnic group native to Mesopotamia. They are located in the region of West Asia. This empire is known to be one of the best of Mesopotamia due to its expansion and structure. They developed military and government. Their military force is known for overpowering their enemies. -
The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the best from ancient Mesopotamia. It is a Sumerian and Akkadian poem about the self-named hero, Gilgamesh. He is king of the city Uruk, and goes on a quest. On this quest he hoped to find immortality after he and his companion Enkidu perform deeds. These deeds angered the gods, and ended up killing Enkidu. -
The Babylonians used ideas from the Sumerians and built an empire. The Babylonia empire was a part of the middle and southern part of Mesopotamia. Their empire gave the world laws written in code, a tower that soared above the earth, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. -
Judaism was first founded with one of the most famous people in the bible, Abraham. This happened sometime around 1800 BCE. Judaism is monotheistic, and they believe in one god. They believe that God is one and he created the world. They also believe that God is still actively involved in the world. -

The Hammurabi Code is one of the oldest writings that have been deciphered in the world. This code came from ancient Babylonians in Mesopotamia. It is very lengthy and consists of laws with different punishments or demands. The punishments of these laws can include, death, free men/slaves, and getting your property taken. There were a total of 282 laws in the Code of Hammurabi. -
Shang Dynasty were the first major Rulers of China. They were a farming society ruled by aristocracy. They are credited with developing a stratified government and use of bronze tools and weapons during war. -
The Egyptian New Kingdom first came to be when Hyksos defeated Middle Kingdom. From Hyksos, Egyptians we learned to use bronze tools for weapons and have military skills. During this time Egypt became the most dominant power is Southwest Asia. However, after being so dominant they fell very quickly after political instability. -
The Zhou Dynasty ruled from 1045-256 BCe. They declared mandate of heaven. When they declared this, the emperor's rule with divine power and, if the King rules poorly, he can be overthrown and a new dynasty can rule. -
Iron weapons became more useful because they were easier to make. People would use these in warfare and many other situations. They were also better because of their durability and malleability. -
The Zhou Dynasty faces trouble in 403 BCE. A civil war breaks out and lasts about 180 years. Also, improvements in warfare extended the conflict with things such as iron weapons, calvary men, and crossbows. -
Qin Shihuangdi rises in 221 BCE. This unifies China in many ways. They create a single monetary system and system of roads. They also extend their control to the red river, build the grand canal, and adopt legalism.
