The Battle of Lexington was when the British Army went out to capture rebel leaders in the town of Lexington. This is what started the Revolutionary War. During this battle when the first shot was fired the people called it "shot heard around the world". -
The Battle of Concord was when the British soldiers had left Lexington, they made their way over to the town Concord. When the British got there, they were searching for things like a hidden stash of weapons or munitions. The Americans retreated and watched the British from afar. The British Army had realized that the American troops were growing rapidly and decided to retreat. -
Fort Ticonderoga was located in upstate New York. There was a group of men called Green Mountain Boys, and they were supposed to take over the fort. They snuck across the river in the middle of the night and there was only one guard on duty. Nobody was killed in this attack. The main reason of the attack was so that the Americans could get a hold of their cannons. Once they got the cannons they were moved to Boston. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill was when the British were trying to control the city and the seaport. The British then decided to take two hills, Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill, so that they could have and advantage. Although, once the Americans got wind of this they went to try and defend the hills. The British did end up winning the Battle and getting to keep the hills. Unfortunately it was at a big expense many were killed and even more were wounded. -
Thomas Paine wrote this because he peaked interest in the Battle of Lexington and Concord. This document talked about how all of colonies should break away from British rule and become independent. Before this came out many people were undecided, but once they read this they decided that independence was what was best for them. He was given the name the Father of the American Revolution. -

When Washington crossed the Delaware, him and his army were doing a surprise attack on the Hessians. This is what became the Battle of Trenton. Washington and his army did win this battle. The reason for crossing the river was because the Americans were struggling a lot and needed a victory desperately. -
The Battle of Trenton was a surprise attack on the Hessians. They did have to surrender because they weren't prepared for such an attack. The Americans did capture 1000 Hessians. The casualties and injuries were low on both sides. -
The Battle of Princeton was in the state of New Jersey in the town Princeton. Washington and his troop defeated the British Army. This battle was meant to gain momentum which followed with a line of defeats in New York. -
The Battle of Saratoga was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. The Americans defeat against the British army lifted patriot morale. This increased the hope for independence. -
The Winter at Valley Forge started December 19th, 1777, and ended June 19th, 1778. The Americans decided to camp here because they were close to the British and they could keep an eye on them. It was also far enough so they would know if they were planning to attack. Valley Forge called the name the birthplace of the American Army. -

On the day of the Battle there were 5,000 British men, they had 5 times more people than the Americans. The British were burning and looting everything that only 4 houses remained. In the Battle of Camden Horatio Gates and his army marched into South Carolina to try and take them away from British control. As Gates got closer to Camden people got wind of his plan and the British commander and his army left for Camden and the armies faced each other. Britains southern strategy started a chain of events that ended with Cornwallis's surrender. -
The Battle of Yorktown was an American victory. The British surrendered their ruling of the colonies. The British doing this formed a new nation. -
The Treaty of Paris was between the Americans and Great Britain. Signing this document ended the American Revolution and declared the United States an independent nation.
