    2166 BCE

    God's Promise to Abraham

God made a promise to Abraham that his descendants would be as many as the stars in the sky. His people would be servants in a foreign land. This is very significant because Abram was already 75 years old and didn't have any children.
  • Joseph
    1728 BCE

    Joseph

Joseph was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers who lied to their father, telling him that Joseph was killed by a wild animal. Joseph rose to the position of visier, second in command of the whole land of Egypt. This is significant because it shows that God can turn anything for the good.
  • The Ten Plagues and the Exodus
    1446 BCE

The Ten Plagues and the Exodus

God cursed Egypt with ten plagues of water turning to blood, frogs, lice, flies, livestock pestilence, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and the death of the firstborn. Every time Moses would go to Pharaoh and ask him to let Israel go but he refused. It is important that God will punish those who oppose his people.
  • The Passover
    1446 BCE

    The Passover

The last plague was the death of every firstborn son. God told the Israelites to put lamb's blood on their door frames so the angel of death would pass over their house. This is important because it shows that God protects those who trust in him.
  • God Parts the Red Sea
    1446 BCE

The ten commandments are; You shall have no other gods before Me, You shall not make idols, You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, Honor your father and your mother, You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor, You shall not covet.
  • Wandering in the Wilderness
    1406 BCE

    Wandering in the Wilderness

Moses led the Israelites in the desert for 40 years. God provided manna from the sky and water from the rock for them to survive, but they complained and turned away from God. This is important because it shows that God provides for his people but that doesn't mean it will always be easy.
  • Gideon
    1100 BCE

  • Settling Canaan
    1406

    Settling Canaan

Once Moses died, Joshua took his place and led the Israelites into the promised land. God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous because he would always be with him. The importance of this verse is that God will always be with us so we don't need to be afraid.
