  • God's Promise to Abraham
    2166 BCE

    God's Promise to Abraham

    God made a promise to Abraham that his descendants would be more than the stars and that they would live in The Promised Land. And that he would be related to Jesus who would save the world through dying on the cross for our sins. Israel would not exist without Abraham's family.
  • Joseph
    1728 BCE

    Joseph

    Joseph was Jacob's favorite son and gifted him a rainbow coat Joseph also had dreams about his older brothers bowing down to him. Joseph was later sold into slavery by his brothers because they were jealous that their father liked him better and he ended up becoming Pharaoh's 2nd-in-command and saved his family from a severe famine. Joseph was important because he saved his family which is where Jesus was born from.
  • The Ten Plagues

    The Ten Plagues

    God sent the 10 plagues on Pharaoh and all of Egypt because Pharaoh had enslaved Israel and would not let them go. God used the brothers Moses and Aaron to speak with Pharaoh and try to convince him to let Israel go, but after God sent the tenth plague that killed all of the first born sons in Egypt. This is important because if God didn't send the 10 plagues than Israel would not have been freed from slavery.
  • The Passover

    The Passover

    The Passover was when God told the Israelites that every first born in Egypt would die unless they painted the frames of their doors with the blood of a lamb. God sent the angel of death to kill every first born so that Pharaoh would set Israel free from slavery. It is important because it is a way that the Israelites remembered God's promise to set them free.
  • God parts the Red Sea

    God parts the Red Sea

    When the Israelites were fleeing from Egypt Pharaoh changed his mind and gathered his whole army to chase Israel. So God told Moses to reach out his arms to the Red Sea and it separated so the Israelites walked across it one dry ground. It is important because it proved that God was really there helping them.

    The Ten Commandments

    God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mt Sinai, when all the Israelites were down below him. The Israelites started worshipping false gods and idols while they waited for Moses to come back down the mountain. These are important because they help us to obey God's commands and act more like how God wants us to.
  • Wandering in the Wilderness

    Wandering in the Wilderness

    The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years before reaching the Promised Land. God guided them through the wilderness providing them with food to eat and water to drink. It is important because it is how God lead Israel to the Promised Land.
  • Settling in Canaan

    Settling in Canaan

    This is the time when Israel was starting to settle into Canaan. Canaan, also known as the Promised Land because it was promised to Israel by God. It is important because it is how Israel started gaining more and more land.
  • Gideon
    1100 BCE

    Gideon

    Gideon was a military leader for Israel, God spoke to him to lead Israel against the Midianites. Gideon did not believe that it was truly God, so God proved that it was truly him. It is important because it tells of how Gideon became a judge of Israel and how Israel beat the Midianites in battle while only using trumpets and torches.
  • Samson
    1085 BCE

    Samson

    Samson was a not an ordinary man, he was chosen by God to be Israel's last great judge, he also had extraordinary strength. Samson didn't obey God's commands and was imprisoned by the Philistines, Samson pleaded with God to give him great strength one last time after he had been tied to a temple and had his eyes gouged out. This is important because it shows how God can give us extraordinary abilities that can help us through our lives.
