    Egg is in the Fallopian tubes. Sperm fertilizes it.
  • 1st month (1st trimester)

    1st month (1st trimester)
    Baby is around 1/4 inch long. About the size of a grain of rice. Starts developing limbs, heart and lungs form and heart starts beating, and neural tube forms.
  • 2nd month (1st trimester)

    2nd month (1st trimester)
    Baby is now a fetus. Fetus is about 1 inch long and weighs 9.45g. 1/3 of the baby is now made up of its head. Major organs start to form, placenta starts working, eyelids grow, ears, ankles and writs are developed.
  • 3rd month (1st trimester)

    3rd month (1st trimester)
    Baby is about 4 inches long and weighs about 28g. Baby’s fingers and toes have nails, mouth has 20 buds that will be the baby’s teeth, hair begins to grow on the baby’s skin, you are able to hear baby’s heartbeat, and all organs continue to develop.
  • 4th month (2nd trimester)

    4th month (2nd trimester)
    Baby is about 7 inches long and weighs about 5 ounces. Baby can move and swallow and skin is transparent and pink.
  • 5th month (2nd trimester)

    5th month (2nd trimester)
    Baby is 10 inches long and weighs 1/2-1 pound. Baby becomes more active by turning and squirming, may be finger and toe prints, and baby starts sleeping and waking in regular patterns
  • Month 6 (2nd trimester)

    Month 6 (2nd trimester)
    Baby measures about 12 inches long and weighs 1.5-2 pounds. Baby’s red skin is now covered in hairs and eyes start to open.
  • Month 7 (3rd trimester)

    Month 7 (3rd trimester)
    Baby is about 16 inches long and about 3 pounds. Baby can open and close eyes, kicks and stretches, and responds to light and sounds
  • Month 8 (3rd trimester)

    Month 8 (3rd trimester)
    Baby is about 19 inches long and weighs about 5 pounds. Brain growth continues, kicks and rolls, finger nails are developed.
  • Month 9 (3rd trimester)

    Month 9 (3rd trimester)
    Baby measures about 21 inches and weighs about 9 pounds. Baby’s lungs are mature and ready to function and your baby is at full term.
