    Britain passes the Stamp Act
    To pay off debt from the French and Indian War, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act, which required Colonists to put stamps on any kind of paper, thus making them pay more.
  • Boston Massacre

    In 1770 multiple colonists gathered around British soldiers and hurled abuse at them. The British had their guns pointed at the colonists, but did not fire until one of the soldiers accidentally pulled the trigger, which the other soldiers took to mean that they had been ordered. In all, five colonists were killed.
